Filling & Charging Units
Why the need to charge and fill?
Many systems have a fill of fluid either at atmospheric pressure or raised to a “charge” pressure. It may be a case of simply filling the system from the correct oil can, and if the contents of the system need to be pumped up to a pressure, there may be a pump built into the equipment.
A specific filling pump and reservoir for one fluid, labelled with instructions and maybe with a hose and specific coupling cuts down the risks of incorrect fluids and speeds up filling on a larger site. The process is controlled more carefully particularly for different languages in remote parts of the world.
Where a system needs pumping to a pressure or “charging”, using a single pump to do this instead of building a pump into each installation has benefits. A single pump/reservoir/trolley unit for the task acts to standardise a procedure, particularly if unique hose couplings are used.
Our products for filling and charging:
Our Micropac®pumps can be integrated into charging and filling units to exactly meet customer requirements. Pumps can be specified for a range of fluids, displacements and pressures. They can be fitted with release valves, relief valves, pressure gauges, hoses and couplings.
A range of reservoirs is available in anodised alloy, carbon steel and 316 stainless in a fixed format, portable unit, and two and four wheel trolleys. Hose stowage brackets can be incorporated to provide compact and safe portable units.
A range of seal compounds and pump materials of construction are available readily to cover a massive range of fluids and operating conditions.
For specifiers and users of charging units for mechanical sealing systems for the process and offshore industries, our sealing systems partner is able to offer considerable expertise in solutions using our equipment.
Sarum Hydraulics has considerable experience in providing specialist filling solutions including components for carbon dioxide filling pumps for fire extinguishers and filling units for aerospace.
